Fall San Antonio Wedding at Southwest School of Art

San Antonio School of Craft Fall Wedding // Florals by The Nouveau Romantics // Austin Wedding Planning and Event Design Studio

Britney and Chris were married at the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio last fall, and we were happy to be part of the team that made this happen. The bride is a girl’s girl at heart, and the florals were a mix of white, cream, pinks, peaches, greens, and a bit of grey. We lucked out and nabbed some of the elusive tree peonies that were back in season in the fall and early winter, which, in my humble opinion, made the event. They make a big statement, and that peachy-pink tone of one of the varieties is impossible to duplicate in any other form.

The ceremony arch was a feat that I’m just so happy with how it turned out – my girl Christy and her husband Phil (who are always in charge of the installations, FYI, here at The Nouveau Romantics) pulled off a giant set of linen curtains framed with a long garland and blooms trailing down. It really helped to bring the large scale of the gazebo down to something a little more appropriate to them. For the reception we took advantage of the high ceilings and included some taller candelabras and a mix of mercury glass and cut glass votives.  The Nichols shot everything incredibly, as they always do. There’s a laundry list of very good reasons as to why we like to work together!

Finally –  Michael Antonia aka The Flashdance – of this Define School interview we featured a couple of weeks back – was the DJ for the whole event. Britney and Chris came up to Austin for The Cream in January 2011 and saw him in action, but Britney had her heart set on him from the start of her planning. He was fantastic and we’re excited to mention that he’s coming up to Texas again in the Spring of 2014 for another one of our weddings! Dance parties everywhere!

Congratulations Britney and Chris – you two were wonderful to work with, and pretty adorable on the day of!

The short answer is no. Here’s the longer one, and the decision framework that helps you move forward. My simple answer: no. And honestly, the premise of the question is worth examining before we go any further. These days, almost every wedding is a destination wedding for someone. Unless you and your partner grew up […]

Let’s be honest: registering should feel fun…but for most couples, it quickly becomes one more decision in a sea of decisions.
