Modern Art Wedding Inspiration by The Nouveau Romantics

When I first met Molly, an architect, we both arrived wearing variations of a white shirt, black pants – which told me that we’d collaborate really well, and our conversations quickly turned from away from pinterest and wedding boards, and towards her and her fiancé’s favorite architects, films, and artists. It was exciting to turn to the spaces that inspire her as the basis of our design, and when they passed this Minted Adagio invitation our way, I had a hunch that the end result would be pretty incredible. Their ceremony took place in the backyard of her grandfather’s mid-century house near Pasadena, and the reception just down the street at the CalTech Athenaeum. We talked about how to create a consistent language between the two different locations and their respective time periods, and yet play off each’s strengths to create a layered experience for their guests. It was the ultimate play between new and old, modern and traditional, and this overgrown and colorful collaboration was even more stunning in person! Sources after the jump! [… not to mention some of James Moes’ beautiful final photography soon. Hold tight kittens.]

Where Guest Experience, Design Possibilities, and Weekend Magic Meet If you’re searching for a Denver wedding venue and hoping for something that’s more elevated than expected—less wedding factory, more once-in-a-lifetime—you’re not alone. After a decade of planning destination weddings across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, I approach venues with a very specific lens: These are […]

Honestly, there is little better than designing to the historically marvelous and detailed interiors at The Perry Belmont House in DC, and our late fall dinner party-turned-boudoir-inspired revelry did not disappoint. As big art patrons and collectors, J&S came to us looking for guidance on where their wedding celebration ought to take place. Considering spots […]

When we received word that the mother of the groom was set on using The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas as the scene for the welcome dinner for guests of C & C’s late January wedding, we were beyond excited. We’ve been huge fans of the elegant, light-filled 19th Floor Ballroom (also known as The Governor’s […]
