I had big plans to slide this little ditty full of late fall florals in before it officially hit December 1st – but, as usual. Not quite. Of course “late fall” and “early winter” here in Texas, look mightily similar. You know, passion vine is still blooming, as are our neighbors garden roses, and some wildflowers from the rain we’ve finally received. So. There you go. Welcome to Texas …

Winter is actually a spectacular season for flowers–namely as the peonies [like these burgundy specimens] come back in season, as do local ranunculus. In this batch there was also some passion vine [from the garden], scabiosa, white astrantia, begonia, astilbe, and some seasonal grasses and foliage picked from random trees.

And with that, I officially open the holiday season ….
