We like to keep our team tight over here at The Nouveau Romantics, but that’s not much without the incredible talent with which we are always collaborating. So these posts are dedicated to some of those folks that make our jobs a lot more interesting and inspiring.
Kim Krans, an artist based in California these days, is one of them. A spring wedding next year has one of our clients working closely with her [full disclosure: they’ve been close family friends for years, which just adds even more to the story.] and we’ve been amazed and delighted to see what she comes up with them so far.
While in school at the Cooper Union in New York, Krans worked on all scales of work, in different mediums. Over time, her work has returned to smaller pieces, affordable to the general public [I’ve been familiar with her work/shop The Wild Unknown unknowingly for a while!] and her drawings are picturesque snippets of incredible detail — as my architecture professor would say that “she has an ability with a pencil or pen, a looseness that” — and now in my words, is absolutely captivating. You understand the amount of time and attention spent on each of her drawings, whether a fast sketch or longer study.
Regardless, we’ve seen the couple’s save-the-dates and were beyond thrilled, and can’t wait to see how the rest of the invitations and paper goods come about. The very qualities that make her work incredibly special have translated beautifully into our couple’s stationery, and we’re so lucky to have her work as a part of ours!
