Alright, it’s time! Time to run down the details from the Spring Folk photoshoot of April, and since we’ve covered my concept and starting point here, today we’ll cover the floral direction.
I had dreams of bring spring tones, and have a long-standing adoration of poppies. Coincidence that they finally made an appearance as the Texas season was waning? Hardly. We snagged the last bunches from this local farm and they were such quirky characters. [and stunning – one cannot go wrong with poppies, although, if they’re less-than-stellar condition have a rather short lifespan.]
Jennifer and I had talked about a flower crown really early on, so I knew we’d include some jasmine vine, and other greens. Rounding things out are a top favorite of mine – pieris japonica – with its cascading flowers and fantastic movement, some tahitian cream daffodils, beautiful golden garden roses, scented geranium, and dusty miller. Something about this combination was so simple, bright, and cheerful – yet not too cloying, and still quite natural with such a simplified palette.
