I’ve decided to start posting my inspiration boards that I’m drafting up for my event design clients. One of my favorite activities as it really helps to pull together what is always dozens of different colors, feels, textures, all going in different directions. The act of refinement, and restraint is always a tough one for … well, everyone, and is what quality designers really do.
Pare things down to the essence.
The flip side is that the final work helps guide the couple visually — as well as other vendors that are on board. Visual cues and clues, and having a physical artifact to reference is completely invaluable. I’ve seen this work first hand over and over and over again.
This wedding is taking in a private residence in the lush hills of Pennsylvania in early September. The Brooklyn couple were adamant about it feeling elegant, sophisticated, with elements of playfulness. The bride loves greens, whites, and stripes (kindred spirits, that girl and I), but we brought in some pops of coral and peach to flesh things out. They’re going to have a killer meal from a local CSA / farm / caterer, as well as a delicious dessert bar with goodies all the way from Brooklyn. It’s coming up soon and I’m stoked about all the details finally coming together! Robert Sukrachand is on board to photograph which means there will be plenty of pretty pictures to come!
