A Magical and Playful Indian Wedding at Race & Religious in New Orleans

Originally envisioning a destination wedding in Mexico or California, this couple landed somewhere far more unexpected—New Orleans. With its rich culture, bold flavor, and celebratory spirit, the city offered the perfect counterpoint to their Indian heritage: two worlds united by vibrancy, tradition, and joy. Their ceremony took place at Race & Religious, a historic property with layers of patina, charm, and just enough complexity to make it meaningful.

Inspired by the bride’s custom blush taupe lehenga, we built a palette of dusky rose, plum, and green to echo the feeling of a walled garden in bloom. Instead of a formal seated dinner, guests moved through a whimsical strolling lunch reception—designed for connection, conversation, and delight. As the bride said, “It was a wedding we couldn’t have had in any other city.” It felt playful, magical, and wholly their own.
